Everyone loves junk food. Don’t try to deny it! Luckily, it’s becoming increasingly easier to find healthier alternatives to our favorite funk foods. Thanks to health food markets like Whole Foods and online Thrive Market, I can have my cake and eat it too. Check out some of my favorite junk food swaps below.
Swap Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups for Unreal Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups
Dark chocolate has more of the original cocoa bean than milk chocolate, which means more nutritional value in the form of flavenoids. And almond butter is slightly healthier than peanut butter because it has more vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
Swap Peanut M&Ms for Unreal Dark Chocolate Peanut Gems
The big selling point for me here is that the Unreal Dark Chocolate Peanut Gems contain NO artificial colors. They are colored naturally with beet, carrot, and other juices. They may not look as shiny and vibrant as their M&M counterparts, but I feel much better about eating them.
Swap Cheetos for Barbara’s Cheese Puffs
Barbara’s Cheese Puffs are made with non-GMO corn and real aged cheddar cheese. And they are made without artificial dyes (Yellow Dye #6), unlike their Cheetos counterparts.
Swap Pillsbury Brownie Mix for Pamela’s Brownie Mix
I don’t actually eat a gluten-free diet, but it’s really hard to find a brownie mix whose first ingredients aren’t refined sugar and enriched bleached flour. I switched to Pamela’s Chocolate Brown Mix (gluten-free) because the first ingredients are molasses, honey, and brown rice flour.
Eating healthy doesn’t have to be void of indulgence. Just make sure your indulgences are smart. Hope you enjoyed these junk food swaps. Let me know your personal favorite junk food swaps in the comments below.
